What distinguishes certain individuals from others in terms of perseverance? In order to address the question, consider the case of Nick Zamucen, the Founder and CEO of BOR Restoration.
Nick Zamucen, the Founder and CEO of BOR Restoration, pioneered entrepreneurship with the goal of helping others restore their lives and relive their dreams, establishing him as a successful leader in his profession. Nick-Anthony Zamucen is a serial entrepreneur, who has made his fortune by helping others achieve their dreams of business ownership.
“Tony Robbins has been a man that I’ve followed for over 30 years, says Nick. His life principles, skills, and mindset is something I’ve tried to make my own. He is an inspiration to millions and I’m trying to be the same. I want to be a positive role model in people’s lives for years to come.”
Nick is the perfect blend of Tony Robbins, Gary Vaynerchuk, and Phil Jackson. Nick studied Tony Robbins for over 30 years and has even shared a stage with him many times, assisting business owners to grow to a level they could only imagine. He’s like Gary Vaynerchuk because of his realistic approach to life, challenges, and competition. Lastly, with this blend, Nick is like Phil Jackson as he coaches the best in the industry and gains their respect by his pragmatism and direct discipline in his mindset. Nick-Anthony Zamucen is a winner because he’s studied to be just that. Nick is a remarkable man who is skilled in his field today, but he had a difficult start to his professional career.
Beating the Odds
Nick was introduced to life’s difficulties at a young age, though he still aimed to be competitive in his desperate financial situation.
Nick grew up in a low-income household that worked to make ends meet. Getting through each day was an accomplishment in and of itself. The conditions caused them to live in perpetual need, whether it was paying the house bills or asking where their next meal would come from. They were a close-knit family, and their love for one another was their strength, but each day was a challenge due to reduced resources. Growing up on government cheese, food stamps, and powdered milk. Nick has seen the best and worst of life during his many ups and downs. His life experiences have taught him to be fearless in the face of defeat. Nick-Anthony Zamucen is the epitome of achievement with an ambitious outlook like that. He persevered in the face of adversity and rose to a prominent role in the industry.
“If you love what you do, you never lose that zeal. I love helping others, so I wake up every day with clear eyes and a full heart. I believe in servant leadership.” says Nick
Nick is a motivating man, a strong-willed person, and a collaborator. Nick is also a prolific author, industry consultant, and award-winning serial entrepreneur with a track record of achievement in a variety of businesses.
Nick intends to build the world’s biggest and most reputable franchised restoration firm. He developed four franchised concepts, two of which were sold to private equity companies and two of which he still retains, Bio-One Inc. and Best Option Restoration.
B.O.R. Restoration is dedicated to assisting people in distress after a tragedy. The experienced staff has the training and equipment required to ensure that any home is returned to its pre-incident condition. The firm deals in Water Damage Remediation & Structural Drying, Dehumidification & Climate Control, Sewage Remediation, Storm Damage Remediation, Fire Damage Restoration, Contents Cleaning, HVAC Cleaning and Decontamination, Smoke Odor Removal, Debris Removal, and Damage Re-Construction.
Nick believes “The restoration industry isn’t economy driven and it’s been growing billions a year. I’m very confident that we’ll be around long after I’m gone.”
Nick also founded Bio-One Inc., the first profitable franchised crime scene and hoarding cleaning firm. Nick has been able to show and construct authentic crime scene sets for film and tv shows filmed in San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, marking a landmark in yet another industry. Bio-One Inc. is the best in the industry thanks to its unique strategies. These have just been graced with two new awards from Entrepreneur Magazine, “Top New Franchises of 2021” and “Top Low-Cost Franchises of 2021”.
A Dive Into the Lifestyle
Nick is all about his family when he’s not working. His wife Molly, a former beauty pageant winner and registered nurse is now a homemaker for their three beautiful children. A quote from one of his favorite movies as well as a life principle for Nick. He is also an avid classic car guy. Nick owns a ‘32 Ford Roadster, ’61 Corvette, and a ’55 Chevy Pickup. When he’s not driving those, he’s on his Harley Davidson Night Train. Also being from San Francisco CA, he loves his 49ers and Giants.
Want to know more about this promising company? We had a conversation with the founder to bring you some exclusive insights on who they are, how they work, and what they believe in. Here’s a quick glimpse.
The Inside Culture of BOR
BOR has a casual work environment. We don’t believe in the corporate stuffiness of the past, says Nick. Everyone knows what they need to do and when it needs to get done, so we hire the talent and let them do their job. No one has time to micromanage. I believe a good environment puts the employees together and keeps them on the same page. When the culture is well-defined, people from various backgrounds will rally around it for a shared goal. The atmosphere in your company determines how people act and collaborate, as well as how well they perform as a team. Determine the facets of the company’s culture that are most important to your employees, and consider doing a culture audit. Your aim should be to figure out what your employees care for the most and to help them do that. If a company does follow this, it takes another turn toward building an exceptional workplace.
Innovation Vs R&D
One of the most likely ways to outperform your competitors is to meet the interests of your target audience better than your competitors. You must find ways to remain one step ahead of your competitors in order to build a profitable company. It’s always better said than done, and there’s no one-size-fits-all solution for beating the rivals. In any industry, there is competition. In order to gain market share, smarter firms reduce the impact of competition.
Companies are looking for every way they can to remain a step ahead of the market in today’s fast-paced and ever-changing business world. BOR uses state-of-the-art technology in its drying strategies. Thermal drying is the latest and greatest, so we stay ahead of everyone by staying at the forefront of technology. We also have our proprietary software and we are also the only company in the franchised world to collect insurance invoices on the franchisee’s behalf. We do more for our franchises than anyone in the game. Their continued success and growth prove that our strategies work.
I think the best way to scale any business is Marketing and Innovation. R&D is important but you can research bad ideas all day and develop plans that never work. The theory is not always practical.
A View on Tech Advancements
Technology cannot be avoided. It pervades every aspect of our lives. This will get more and better as the years pass. Company tactics that were once effective may become ineffective in the near future. If the company does not have the right tactic to market itself, the right medium to communicate its product to the right audience at the right time, one of its rivals will undoubtedly overtake it. It’s all in your head. Our life will be jeopardized the day you become fearful of technological advancements. It is critical that we practice information sharing, stay current on technological advances, and consider what can be applied in our business. We use it to our advantage and always stay way ahead of the curve.
Networking is Networthing
Your network is just as powerful as the number of its parts. Create a network of people who can assist you in growing your company. Make contact with other business owners, prospective customers, referral partners, influencers, and advisors. Entrepreneurs with strong networks are most likely to succeed. It’s all about who you know and who knows you. To have more opportunities to grow in your profession, you must build contacts within your network. Socializing and networking gatherings are a perfect way to meet professionals in your industry.
Training for Perfection
I’m proud to say we haven’t had anyone fail in our model. BOR is 100% successful as of now and we plan to keep it that way. We train for perfection and that’s what we have. Retrospectives (also known as post-project reviews) enable the team to focus on how the previous process or period went and catch lessons learned that will further improve future success. Identify the items that went better during this analysis so you can build an atmosphere that allows you to replicate certain success factors. Look at the stuff that didn’t go too far so you can adjust your strategies to avoid similar issues in the future. Often, recall any incidents that shocked you. There may be risk factors to be aware of while working on the next project.
The Biggest Risk
Going into franchising and not just looking out for my own company. Franchising has many rules and laws governing how you can tell people how to operate your brand. You have to walk very softly and make sure you bring aboard the right people in your franchise group, not just a heartbeat and cash. You need to be able to put a new franchise’s needs in front of your own. I’ve walked out of the Ballet while sitting in the front row to help my franchise over the phone. Their success is mine and when they need help, I’m there.
Message to Young Entrepreneurs
When I sold my second franchised concept to a Private Equity company, I didn’t have to work another day in my life. I work because I want to make a difference. I want to show people what’s possible in their life if they’re willing to put in the energy, time, and work. Money is a sidebar to success, but true success is helping others to be their best self and live their life goals.
