Contrary to popular assumption, nicotine does not remain in your system for an extended period of time. Because it has a half-life of roughly 2 hours, you should anticipate your body to be nicotine-free within a few days of smoking your last cigarette. But this becomes challenging because nicotine builds up in your system the more you smoke and the longer you smoke. But it requires discipline, and if you’re up for the effort, we have some advice on how to quickly get rid of it from your body.

How to Get Nicotine Out of Your System Fast?

1. Drink a lot of water to assist your body get rid of nicotine

Urinary excretion of nicotine is common. It is quicker for nicotine to leave your body when you drink more water since it increases urination. As a general rule, strive for at least 15.5 cups (3.7 L) of fluids for adult men and 11.5 cups (2.7 L) for adult women each day.

2. In addition to water, drink other nutritious drinks

To assist your body, eliminate nicotine more quickly, try drinking hot tea. Fruit juices not only keep you hydrated but also contain nutrients that speed up how quickly your body breaks down nicotine. Avoid alcohol, soda, coffee, and other diuretics that might actually dehydrate you when you’re attempting to get nicotine out of your system.

3. Exercise your cardiovascular system by doing cardio

If you’ve smoked frequently, cardio can be challenging, but jogging and other cardio exercises increase your heart rate and make you sweat. This can help you eliminate nicotine from your system more quickly because nicotine leaves the body through sweat. Make sure to jog for at least 15-20 minutes, or as long as it takes you to break a sweat.

4. Consume meals high in antioxidants

Antioxidant-rich whole foods speed up the removal of toxins from your body through urine and sweat. Among them include fruits like blackberries, cranberries, and spinach, as well as nuts like peanuts and walnuts.

5. Eat things that cause your liver to create bile

Because the liver plays a major role in the metabolism of nicotine, increasing the generation of liver enzymes will hasten the process. Try consuming foods that contain radishes, leeks, asparagus, celery, and carrots, as well as foods that contain garlic, onions, and egg yolks. Include these foods in your diet in addition to exercising, drinking water, and eating antioxidants.

6. Boost your metabolism by taking vitamin C medication.

Your body will break down and get rid of nicotine even more quickly if your metabolism is sped up. Oranges, strawberries, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, papaya, and kiwi are a few examples of foods that naturally contain a lot of vitamin C. A similar result is also achieved by vitamin C capsules, which are easily obtained at your neighborhood food store.

7. Sweat off nicotine by going to a sauna.

According to studies, sweat is how nicotine leaves your body. You’re sure to perspire in a sauna’s hot, humid environment, which will aid in your body’s removal of more nicotine than it otherwise would. If not, you can just choose alternative hot situations where you will perspire.

8. Quit smoking to get nicotine out of your system for good

Stop using any tobacco products in order to completely eliminate nicotine from your body and keep it gone forever. Despite how difficult it may be, you can try nicotine replacement therapy (NRT), which involves using patches, gum, inhalers, or lozenges. Until you stop all nicotine exposure, there will still be traces of nicotine in your body.

The Bottom Line

While these methods will help reduce nicotine, the best method is to completely stop using tobacco products. Quitting smoking isn’t an easy thing to do, neither is stopping to chew tobacco. But you’ve got this! Just stay focused on your goal and keep busy to help reduce the temptation to smoke.
